The Invisalign® system offers a range of almost invisible, removable plastic aligners, known as aligners or sometimes simply aligners. They are made specifically for you and fit perfectly to your teeth at every step of your journey. Invisalign® is often referred to as 'invisible braces' and is a popular choice for adults and teenagers who want braces that are not visible. You can take them out and they are completely discreet.

The key to effective orthodontic treatment lies in the slow and gentle force exerted by the transparent aligners. They help to move the teeth into the correct position according to the precise movements we prescribe using the ClinCheck 3D software. This innovative software will also motivate you to wear the aligners constantly, as we can use it to simulate and display the expected final position once your teeth have been successfully treated.

Who is suitable for Invisalign®?

Overjet - The overjet refers to the horizontal (anterior-posterior) positioning of the anterior teeth. It is determined by measuring the maximum distance between the incisal edges of the central incisors in both the upper and lower jaw. Excessive overjet can lead to esthetic problems. Invisalign is an ideal solution to solve this problem.

Crossbite - A crossbite occurs when the posterior teeth are not properly aligned between the upper and lower jaw when biting. An uneven jawline is best corrected early in childhood to achieve optimal clinical results. Mild cases of crossbite can often be realigned using almost invisible Invisalign® aligners, which can be easily removed for comfort. If left untreated, there is a risk that your teeth will wear down or chip. Your gums may recede, which can lead to both functional and aesthetic problems as well as possible gum disease.

Crowding - This condition occurs when the teeth significantly overlap their intended positions in the mouth. This often begins in childhood and can worsen as you mature due to the natural growth of the teeth and jaw. Not only can this misalignment affect your oral health, it can also detract from the visual appeal of your smile, affecting your personal well-being and self-confidence.

Treatment with Invisalign® can usually be completed within 6 to 8 months for mild tooth crowding. For more moderate cases, treatment with this approach usually takes around 18 months. Not undergoing treatment can make dental hygiene such as brushing or flossing more difficult, increasing the likelihood of developing tooth decay and/or gum disease.

Underbite - An underbite refers to a dental problem in which the lower teeth protrude further forward than the upper teeth. This condition is mainly influenced by genetic factors and can lead to various other oral health complications. By treating your underbite, you can prevent these additional dental problems in the future. Both children and adults can experience an underbite, and in both cases it is treatable. Common treatment methods include Invisalign, braces and surgical options. However, there are also alternative treatments.

Gap Bite - If your teeth are smaller than your jawbone, you may notice spaces between them. Specifically in relation to the two central incisors, this gap is called a diastema. Gaps between teeth can occur in several areas of the mouth. They often first appear in young children (although they can close naturally during development) and sometimes remain visible into adulthood.

Invisalign® is a possible dental solution for closing the gap between teeth. Or Veneers can be an option to close gaps between teeth. It is important to note that the treatment of gaps between teeth is considered more of an aesthetic or cosmetic procedure. If these gaps are not closed, they can lead to pockets where food debris accumulates, leading to plaque and tartar buildup, which increases the likelihood of tooth decay and gum pain that can lead to gum disease.

Overbite - The term overbite refers to the vertical (upper/lower) positioning of the anterior teeth within the vertical space. This is assessed by measuring the distance between the incisal edge of the upper jaw and that of the lower jaw. If these incisal edges meet perfectly, the value for overbite is scored as zero. However, excessive overlap of the teeth can lead to various problems. This situation often leads many patients to consider orthodontic treatments such as braces.

Invisalign® can be used effectively for mild to moderate overbites. Invisalign® offers a much more subtle appearance, making it a discreet alternative to traditional braces. It usually takes less time to achieve the desired results, so you can see improvements more quickly. If left untreated, this condition can cause significant wear and tear on your lower teeth and even discomfort to your jawline and gums.

Invisalign-process step by step

1. if, after an initial consultation, we come to the conclusion together that you are a suitable candidate for Invisalign® treatment, we will assess the current condition of your teeth during your first appointment using digital impressions, x-rays and photos.

2 This assessment will allow us to create a personalized treatment and cost plan for your evaluation. This will detail the likely treatment duration (which will largely depend on the initial condition of your teeth) and we will discuss every aspect of the procedure with you. Please note that typical treatment times vary between three months and two years. However, you can rest assured that Invisalign® aligners are virtually invisible, so you can continue your daily routine with complete comfort and confidence.

3. the plastic aligner that forms the basis of the Invisalign® system has been carefully designed to fit your gum line, making it easier to use these clear aligners comfortably. We recommend wearing them for about 22 hours a day. You will, of course, need to remove them during meals or when brushing your teeth. You will have several follow-up appointments at the practice before the treatment is completed. If we are both satisfied with the final result, retainers are ordered to maintain the position of the teeth, which fix the teeth so that they do not shift.
